A good place to start when planning a wedding is with the location. The following are some important questions to keep in mind when picking your perfect wedding location. Read them carefully and remember that if one plan doesn’t work out there is, most likely, an alternative that is even better than the one you had originally imagined.

There are a lot of things to consider when planning the location of your wedding.  The following are some questions to ask yourself in order to help you choose the perfect place…

• Is it accessible to family and friends on both sides?
• Can it accommodate the number of people you plan on inviting?
• Will the weather be suitable for the type of wedding you are looking for?
• Are there accommodations nearby for guests who need to stay overnight?
• Is it agreeable to both you and your future spouse?
• Will it meet the cultural or religious needs you have for your wedding?
• Do they allow weddings to be held there?
• Are there restrictions on number of people, decorations, or the person who will perform the ceremony (many religious locations will only allow weddings to be performed by its own religious leader, or for a couple of that orthodoxy).

Setting a Date
Setting a date can be a tricky business, especially when considering the location of your wedding. While you may have the perfect day picked out during your favorite time of year, there is always the possibility that your location will not be available.

Knowing this, there are two paths you can take. One, is to be flexible on the location of your wedding and the other is to be flexible on your wedding date. If you know you absolutely need your wedding to be in a certain spot, you should call the location to see what dates they have available for the general time frame you are looking at.  However, if it is the date of your wedding that cannot be changed, you can make a list of all the locations in which you might like to get married and call to check on their availability.

It is highly recommended that you start planning your wedding location six to nine months before the event in order to solidify the date and location that you desire. The earlier you start planning, the more likely you are to get the wedding of your dreams in the location that you want.
