Plane, Train, Automobile - Getting to Your Vacation

In the past only the wealthy had the necessary resources to travel the globe, however, today not only has the price of travel decreased drastically, but also travelers have options with regards to their method of transportation. Each method of transportation, whether it is plane, car, bus, train, boat etc. has its advantages and disadvantages. Some methods are faster while others are less expensive, and which you choose really depends on what you are looking to achieve.

Below are some of the advantages and disadvantages associated with some of the most popular forms of travel. Use these to help you figure out which type of travel is right for you!

Plane
With today’s competitive ticket prices, many people are choosing to fly rather than drive or take a train. Planes are one of the fastest forms of transportation and many tickets are moderately priced, especially when found on the internet. One of the downsides to flying is the time spent at the airport, which can be excessive especially with the many new security precautions. However, even taking this into account, it is probably the fastest way to get where you want to go, though possibly the most expensive.

Train
Trains are a great way to travel if you have an ample amount of time. On a train you don’t have to worry about driving and can instead read a book, take a nap, or look out the window at the passing scenery. Trains are also great because they don’t have to contend with traffic or inclement weather, whereas buses, planes and cars can experience delays in snow or high winds. Traveling by train is generally less expensive than flying, but takes longer.

Car
Driving can be tedious if you have a long way to go, but having transportation once you get to your destination can be a big advantage.  By driving you may also save money on transportation once you arrive for things such as renting a car or taking a taxi. The main disadvantage is the extensive amount of time driving takes, the possibility of weather problems and having to contend with traffic.

Bus
A bus is probably the cheapest way to travel especially when you consider the cost of gas when driving yourself. Buses normally have tons of different routes and destinations, though unfortunately it is often slow-going, as they make many different stops on the way.
